Keep a professional and quiet environment. Everyone's cooperation is important to achieve a successful project.

There are common responsibilities which apply to everyone and which ensure efficient system operations and at the same time allow everyone to learn the processes of how and what to maintain at the Computer Center in a business-like manner.

Remember --

• Attendance Is Critical - No Shows Will Fail
• Dress Neatly - No exceptions
• Every Job Is Important - Some Have Time Constraints
• No One Knows It All - So Share And Be Patient
• Cooperate With Each Other - Use Team Spirit

Phone Calls

• No personal phone calls, emergency calls only.
• Answer telephone calls with proper protocol as follows (ALL):
• "Computer Technology Center, may I help you?"
• "May I tell him/her who is calling?"
• "I'm sorry, he/she is not available at this time, may I take a message?"
• "Please hold one moment while I check for you."

Attendance Records:

• Keep an accurate log of attendance and have it signed each day by the floor supervisor. Sign in and out each day.

Problem Resolution

• If there is a problem, see the floor supervisor. If not available, see Pamela Piller or Ted Vegvari.

Breaks:

• Please take food breaks outside at the picnic tables.
• No game playing during business hours.
• Friday Game Nights are open only to Apprentices.

AM Shift:

• Turn on all lights and equipment upon arrival (AM shift)
• Each morning check the following:
• Toiletry - make sure bathrooms are clean (alternate this duty)
• Replenish restroom supplies
• Pick up and remove trash any trash. The main dumpster is located across the greens next to the small building

Weekly

Check, and, if necessary, clean computer monitors and workstation table tops.

Check all chairs for stability (replace or tighten screws and bolts if necessary)

Dust computer equipment (PM shift)

PM Shift

• Vacuum the carpet
• Turn off all lights and equipment, when last to depart (PM)

Always

• Keep the center in a clean and sanitary condition.
• When writing, write NEATLY & legibly.
• Organize files by appropriate labeling, books and disks as instructed (ALL)
• Attend workshops as instructed (ALL)
• Update online files as instructed (ALL)
• Respond to the public over the counter with courtesy and smiles (ALL)
• Learn the teamwork approach, as a member or a leader (ALL)
• Keep the eatery area neat and clean at all times (ALL)

Stay Busy

• If you don't know what to work on, report to the floor supervisor.
• Offer to help teams
• Provide office support including fling, typing, making copies, mailing, sorting and keeping track of incoming and outgoing mails, as instructed. (ALL)

Each intern/apprentice will be assigned to one or more projects. Their role will be that of either a team member or a team leader.

Electronic Contact Database

• Create master FAX list
• Create a master email list
• Create a master database which includes home and business email & fax numbers of residents in the 4 Cities on the Peninsula, and whether or not they have children.
• Create a master schedule of all publications on the Peninsula.
• Get all email and fax numbers for highschool families and any other mailing lists we can think of

Marketing

Create a collection system to feed an on-line database containing weekly dba announcements published in the PV News and Daily Breeze., send out information about the computer center to these businesses.

• Create an on-line database of PV Chamber members.
• Create an on-line database of Torrance Chamber members.
• Create an on-line database of Harbor Gateway Chamber members.

On-Line TV Guide

• Publish the TV Guide for Cox and Times warner on-line.

Audio PSA for broadcast in South Bay, about our programs and services.

2. On-line publishing updates

• management of Web page updates for cities

3. Student Marketing & Advertising Committee

• Writing press releases
• Writing and publishing a monthly Newsletter

4. Computer Training and Education Outreach Program

• Coordinating and hosting training sessions for organizations in ours and neighboring communities

5. Hawthorne Museum of Flight

• Educational Web site to teach the principles of fight to students ages 8-12
