When and where does the City Council meet?

City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month (except the month of August and the fourth Tuesday of December) at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located in the City Hall complex at 340 Palos Verdes Drive West. Meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
When are City Council meetings televised?

City Council meetings and other broadcasts of local interest can be seen on Channel 35 the “government channel” on Cox Communications, which operates in Palos Verdes Estates pursuant to a franchise agreement.  City Council meetings are rebroadcast (taped) each Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. when Council is in session.  Planning Commission meetings are shown the 3rd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 10:00 A.M. How can I participate at a City Council meeting?

The City welcomes and encourages public participation at City Council meetings.  Members of the public may comment on any item that appears on the City Council agenda (with the exception of Planning Commission Actions). In addition, at each Council meeting there is an agenda section entitled “Communications from the Public”.  Under this section, members of the public may provide comment on a City matter which is not on that evening’s agenda.  State regulations (Brown Act) limit the City Council in discussing issues raised under “Communications from the Public” and no action may be taken at that meeting.  Anyone wishing to address the Council, either on an agenda matter or under “Communications from the Public” may do so by filling out a green speaker card located in the Council Chambers and presenting the card to a City staff person.  Comments by speakers are limited to three minutes. 

How can I get a copy of the agenda?

City Council agendas are posted at City Hall, 340 Palos Verdes Drive West and the Golf Club Pro-Shop, 3301 Via Campesina, and agendas and related materials are placed at the Malaga Cove Library, 2400 Via Campesina, by the Saturday morning preceding the Tuesday evening City Council meeting.  Agenda and staff reports are also available online, or you may subscribe to the Agenda by joining online.
