How do I report a dog disturbance and/or noise issue?

Please contact the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department at (310) 378-4211.  In an emergency, you should dial 911.

Where can I pay for a parking citation?

Parking citations may be paid by mailing a check in the envelope provided with the citation.  Please be sure to include the citation.  If you prefer to pay in person, you may do so by coming to City Hall (upstairs from the Police Department) at 340 Palos Verdes Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274.  Please ask for the Finance Department.  If paying in person, the City will accept check, cash, Visa/Mastercard.

How do I contest a parking citation that I feel was issued erroneously?

If you feel that you received a parking citation that was issued in error and would like to contest it, you must completed an “Administrative Review” Form available online or at the Police Department. On the form, please include the reason for contesting the parking violation and why you believe it was issued in error.  This process is only available for citations issued within thirty (30) days.

If you are dissatisfied with the ruling that is made regarding your citation, you may request an “Administrative Hearing” within fifteen (15) days of the mailing or notification of the Administrative Review finding.  Requests must be in writing, include a written basis for the dismissal of citation, and include payment in the amount currently due or a properly completed certificate/affidavit of inability to pay.

If you are still not satisfied with the ruling after the Administrative Hearing, a civil court remedy is available.  This would require a $25.00 filing fee and would proceed as any small claims action.  The action must be filed within 20 days of the finding made by the hearing officer and the issuing agency must be served a subpoena.

What is Neighborhood Watch?

PVE Neighborhood Watch Club (NW) is comprised of over 600 members who are all residents of Palos Verdes Estates.  Their mission is to acquaint neighbors with neighbors for the purpose of watching out for each others’ homes and individual safety.  The PVE NW Club works in partnership with the Police Department to educate residents in crime prevention activities.  PVE NW has an annual membership fee of $5.00 and offers social get-togethers throughout the year for neighbors to meet and greet.  For more information on community crime prevention or Neighborhood Watch membership, please contact the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator at (310) 378-4211.

What is PVE-CARES?

With “elder abuse” being especially prevalent in this day and age, PVE-CARES is a program that was designed to educate and protect our seniors and elderly from both criminal and non-criminal incidents.  We accomplish this by sponsoring quarterly programs that deal with senior-related topics and issues.  PVE-CARES also acts as a “referral-hub” by putting seniors in touch with existing organizations that are best-suited to deal with a specific problem that one may encounter.  The overall focus of the program is to keep our City’s seniors and elderly independent and self-sufficient for as long as possible.

Who can Register for PVE-CARES?

Any PVE resident age 65 and older or any “dependent adult” age 18 to 64 may register for PVE-CARES.  A dependent adult is defined as anyone with physical or mental limitations that restrict one’s ability to carry on normal activities or to protect rights.

How can I register for PVE-CARES?

You can register by calling the PVE-CARES Coordinator, at (310)378-4211 ext. 2131.  After you have submitted your name, address and telephone number, a PVE-CARES Volunteer will schedule a time to meet with you and register you for the program and explain the benefits offered.
