SUBJECT: TACTICAL PLANNING WORKSHOP

RECOMMENDATION

Consider whether to reschedule the Tactical Planning Workshop set for Saturday, February 24, 2007.

DISCUSSION

On February 9, 2007, Council received an email from the office of Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Brewer inviting the Council members to attend a meeting with various other cities to discuss relationships with the LAUSD. The meeting was scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, although the location has yet to be determined. This is the same date that the Council has scheduled its Tactical Planning Workshop.

Council has expressed a high level of interest in seeing the portions of the City that are currently within the LAUSD’s jurisdiction annexed to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. Council members Wolowicz and Gardiner have been assigned as the Council’s school district liaisons for 2007. Therefore, staff has agendized this matter in order to give Council the option, if it so desires, to reschedule the Tactical Planning Workshop, so that the Council delegates would have an opportunity to attend the meeting with Superintendent Brewer.
