Weekly Activity Report, November 17 - November 23, 1996



CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes included one

attempted carjacking, one residential burglary, three vehicle burglaries, one grand

theft, auto, one petty theft and two acts of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Narcotics Laws - 2, Spousal Assault - 2

November 17

Grand Theft, Auto (nighttime) - A 1989 Nissan pickup was stolen from 27800 block of

Hawthorne Boulevard.

November 18

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown smashed the window of a car at

Longhill Drive and Silver Arrow Drive and stole a stereo system and CD's.

November 19

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person (s) unknown stole a purse from a car in the 6200

block of Via Canada. Entry was gained by breaking a window.

November 21

Residential Burglary (daytime) - A ring was stolen from a home in the 29100 block of

Warnick Road. There was no sign of forced entry.

Attempted Carjacking (nighttime) - Two male suspects attempted to force a male

victim to exit his car in a parking lot in the 28900 block of Western Avenue. The

victim punched one of the suspects and started to sound his horn. Both suspects

then fled the scene.

November 23

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person (s) unknown stole a women's purse from a car in

a parking lot in the 30300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard. Entry was gained by

smashing a window.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
