Weekly Activity Report, September 9 - September15, 1996

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included four residential burglaries, one attempted residential

burglaries, one vehicle burglary, two other structure burglaries, one

grand theft, auto, four grand thefts, one petty theft and one act of

vandalism.

ARRESTS

Burglary - 1 Vehicle Laws - 2

September 9

Residential Burglary (nighttime)- A male suspect kicked in a door and

threatened two occupants of a home in the 2000 block of Van Karajan

Drive.

Grand Theft - The victim reported that between September 1 and

September 7, 1996, person (s) unknown stole a television from a home in

the 27600 block of Warrior Drive. There was no sign of forced entry.

Attempted Residential Burglary - The victim reported that between

September 6 and September 8, 1996, person (s) unknown cut the lock of a

storage cabinet in the carport of a home on Clipper Road.

Grand Theft (daytime)- Two male suspects stole gardening equipment from

an unlocked vehicle in the 5500 block of Bayridge Road.

September 10

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown stole a CD player, a video

game system and comic books from a home in the 2200 block of Chandeleur

Drive. There was no sign of forced entry.

September 11

Vehicle Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown stole stereo equipment

and CD's from a car in the 27800 block of Avenida Cuaderno. Entry was

gained by breaking a window.

Other Structure Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown entered an

unlocked detached garage in the 4800 block of Elkridge Drive and stole

a bicycle and a cellular phone.

Grand Theft, Auto (daytime)- A male suspect forced open a window to

gain entry to a home in the 5500 block of Graylog Street. The suspect

loaded a motorcycle and a toolbox into a black pickup and drove away.

September 12

Grand Theft - Person (s) unknown stole numerous pieces of jewelry

from a home in the 27600 block of Eldena Drive. There was no sign of

forced entry.

September 13

Residential Burglary (daytime)- Two male suspects entered an open

garage in the 3100 block of Crownview Drive and attempted to enter the

door leading to the inside of the house as two occupants carried items

into the house. The victims were able to lock the door prior to the

suspects entry.

September 14

Residential Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown entered a

condominium in the 27900 block of Ridgebluff Court and vandalized the

walls and carpet. There was no sign of forced entry.

September 15

Grand Theft - The victim reported that between September 1 and

September 13, 1996 a male suspect stole U.S. currency from his home in

the 27500 block of Fawnskin Drive. The suspect is known to the victim.

Other Structure Burglary (daytime)- A male suspect stole a bicycle and

numerous tools from a garage in the 4300 block of Miraleste Drive. A

description of the suspect was given by a neighbor and the suspect was

arrested a short distance away.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
