Weekly Activity Report, September 2 - September 8, 1996

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included one armed robbery, four residential burglaries, two vehicle

burglaries, one school burglary, four grand thefts and one petty theft.


ARRESTS

Narcotics Laws - 1 Vehicle Laws - 1

September 3

Vehicle Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown pried the window of a

car in the 32600 block of Nantasket Drive and stole a car stereo.

Vehicle Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown shattered the window

of a car in the 26700 block of Basswood Avenue and stole a briefcase

and binoculars.

Residential Burglary - The victims reported that between July 22 and

September 3, 1996, a male suspect entered her home in the 28600 block

of Mt. Vancouver and stole jewelry and a television. Entry was

apparently gained by using a key given to the suspect previously.

September 4

Armed Robbery (daytime) - Two male suspects armed with a rifle took

U.S. currency and a car key from two victims parked at Friendship

Park. The suspects left the scene in a newer model Toyota pickup.

Residential Burglary (nighttime)- Person(s) unknown stole two

telephones and power tools from a home in the 30400 block of Camino

Porvenir. There was no sign of forced entry.

School Burglary - Person (s) unknown stole a computer from a school in

the 30500 block of Lucania Drive. There was no sign of forced entry.

September 5

Residential Burglary (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown entered an

unlocked garage in the 30400 block of Camino Porvenir and stole a

bicycle.

Grand Theft - The victim reported that jewelry was stolen from her home

in the 27000 block of Silver Moon Lane between July and August of 1996.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Grand Theft (nighttime)- Person (s) unknown stole parts from a vehicle

parked in the 30100 block of Via Victoria.

Grand Theft - The victim reported that between March and September 1996

person (s) unknown stole a handgun from a home in the 6900 block of

Brookford Drive. There was no sign of forced entry.

Residential Burglary (daytime)- Person (s) unknown stole a bicycle from

an open garage in the 28900 block of Doverridge Drive.

September 8

Grand Theft (nighttime)- Video cassettes, clothing and cosmetics were

taken from a home in the 1900 block of Jaybrook Drive. There was nosign

of forced entry.

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
