Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
included one commercial burglary, three residential burglaries, three
vehicle burglaries, one other structure burglary, one grand theft,
four petty thefts, one act of arson and one act
of vandalism.

August 26
Residential Burglary - The victims reported that on August 22, 1996
person(s) unknown entered their home and stole a VCR and jewelry in the
29200 block of Oceanridge Drive. Entry was gained by prying open a
window.
Residential Burglary - The victim reported that on August 24, 1996
person(s) unknown stole three rifles and a shotgun from a home in the
28300 block of Pontevedra Drive. Entry was gained by prying open a
rear door.
Vehicle Burglary - Person (s) unknown shattered the window of a car in
the 28500 block of Western Avenue and stole a car
stereo.
August 27
Vehicle Burglary - Person (s) unknown shattered the window of a car in
the 29600 block of Island View Drive. Nothing appeared to have been
taken.
Residential Burglary - Person (s) unknown removed a screen and entered
a home through an open window in the 3500 block of Palos Vista Drive.
It is unknown if anything was taken.
August 28
Vehicle Burglary - Person (s) unknown shattered the window of a car in
the 32000 block of Nantasket Drive and stole a car
stereo.
Grand Theft - A female victim was conned into buying costume jewelry by
a female suspect claiming to need money for a sick relative at a bank
in the 27300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard.
August 29
Other Structure Burglary - Person (s) unknown stole copper wire cable
from a utility shed in the 6600 block of Palos Verdes Drive South.
Entry was gained by prying the padlock and hinge
of the door.
Arson - Person (s) set fire to a jungle gym apparatus in a park on
Westmont Drive.
September 1
Commercial Burglary - Two male suspects were arrested after they stole
cigarettes and candy from a room at the Los Verdes
Golf Course.
