Weekly Activity Report, July 22 - July 28, 1996

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included one strong-armed robbery, three residential burglaries, one

attempted residential burglary. five vehicle burglaries, one felonious

assault, one grand theft, auto, two grand thefts, one petty theft, one

theft of U.S. mail, one act of arson, and nine acts of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Vehicle Laws - 1

July 20

Vehicle Burglary - A camera was stolen from a van parked in a driveway

in the 7400 block of Via Lorado by person(s) unknown. The window of

the cargo door was broken to gain entry.

July 22

Vehicle Burglary - There was no sign of forced entry to a vehicle

parked in the 28300 block of San Nicolas Drive from which golfing

equipment was stolen.

Grand Theft, Auto - A 1989 Chevrolet Blazer was stolen from a parking

lot in the 28900 block of Western Avenue by a male suspect and was last

seen driving southbound on Western Ave.

Felonious Assault - A male suspect punched and kicked a male victim who

was on the sidewalk on Silver Spur Road at Hawthorne Boulevard.

July 23

Strong-Armed Robbery - A male suspect grabbed a female victim's purse

after punching her about the head and face in the 28100 block of

Ridgepoint Court.

Grand Theft - Person(s) unknown stole a cellular telephone and a garage

door opener from a car in a subterranean garage in the 28100 block of

Peacock Ridge Road. There was no sign of forced entry.

Attempted Residential Burglary - The hinges and lock of a door were

damaged by person(s) unknown in an attempt to gain entry to a shed in

the 1800 block of Jaybrook Drive.

July 24

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown entered a residence in the

28100 block of Montereina Drive and stole a computer.

Vehicle Burglary - Electronic equipment was stolen from a car parked in

the 28900 block of Western Avenue by person(s) unknown.

July 25

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown cut a metal chain to gain

entrance to a property being remodeled in the 28900 block of Covecrest

Drive. A lawnmower and tools were stolen.

July 26

Vehicle Burglary - A pager, garage door opener, and miscellaneous

articles were stolen by person(s) unknown from a car parked in a

parking garage in the 6500 block of Ocean Crest Drive. There was no

sign of forced entry.

July 27

Residential Burglary - Two color television sets were taken from a

townhouse in the 1700 block of Hollifield Court by person(s) unknown.

There was no sign of forced entry.

July 28

Vehicle Burglary - Person(s) unknown broke the driver's side window to

gain entrance to a car parked in the 4300 block of Palos Verdes Drive

South. A cellular phone was stolen.

Grand Theft - A moped, a bicycle, a cellular phone, and other items

were stolen from a vehicle parked on the street in the 4300 block of

Palos Verdes Drive, South. Person(s) unknown broke the driver's side

window to gain entry.

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
