CRIME REPORT

Weekly Activity Report, June 24 - June 28, 1996
Note: Because of vacations at the Sheriff's Office, this report is for less than one week and will be completed next week.

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included one murder, one strong-armed robbery, one residential

burglary, one attempted vehicle burglary, one felonious assault, one

grand theft, auto, two petty thefts, and one theft of U.S. Mail.

ARRESTS

None

June 24

Felonious Assault - A female suspect threw a bottle at a female victim

in a gas station in the 29400 block of Western Avenue. The victim was

not injured in the assault.

June 25

Residential Burglary - Cameras, tools, and a camcorder were stolen from

a home in the 2700 block of Calle Aventura. Entry was apparently made

through an open window.

Attempted Vehicle Burglary - Person (s) unknown broke the window of a

vehicle in a parking garage in the 29600 block of Island View Drive in

an attempt to burglarize the car.

Strong-armed Robbery - A male suspect grabbed the purse of a female

victim at a bus stop in the 28500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard. The

suspect ran into the park and fled in a blue van.

June 28

Murder - An apparent murder/suicide occurred at the Fisherman's access

parking lot in the 7000 block of Palos Verdes Drive South. Both victims

died of gunshot wounds.

Grand Theft, Auto - A 1990 Mercedes coupe was stolen from the 28900

block of Western Avenue.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
