CRIME REPORT

Weekly Activity Report, June 3 - June 9, 1996

Note: For several weeks crimes in multiple parking

areas seem to be increasing. Week before last it was Peacock

Ridge that was hit hard. Last week it was La Rotunda

and Ravenspur. This week it appears to have been Highridge.

Keep a sharp eye on activities in and

around such structures.

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included one carjacking, two residential burglaries, five vehicle

burglaries, one school burglary, two grand thefts, auto, and four acts

of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Narcotics Laws - 1 Drunk Driving - 1

Spousal Assault - 1

June 3

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown broke the frame of a door to

gain entry to a residence in the 6000 block of Scotmist Drive. Nothing

was taken in the burglary.

June 4

Vehicle Burglary - Stereo equipment and compact discs were stolen by

person(s) unknown from a car in a subterranean garage in the 28100

block of Highridge Road. The driver's side window was broken in the

burglary.

Grand Theft, Auto - A 1988 Chevrolet was stolen from the street in

front of a residence in the 2000 block of Toscanini Drive.

Vehicle Burglary - Unknown suspect(s) broke a window to enter a car

parked in a subterranean garage in the 28100 block of Highridge Road.

A car radio was taken in the burglary.

Vehicle Burglary - There was no sign of forced entry to a car parked in

a parking garage in the 6500 block of Ocean Crest Drive from which a

cellular phone was stolen.

Vehicle Burglary - A window was broken and the dashboard damaged in an

attempt to steal a radio from a car parked in a parking garage in the

28100 block of Highridge Road.

June 5

School Burglary - A woman's purse containing U.S. currency, credit

cards, a cellular phone and pagers was stolen from a school office in

the 6200 block of Via Canada.

June 6

Residential Burglary - A camera was stolen from a garage in the 4000

block of Miraleste Drive by person(s) unknown. There was no sign of

forced entry.

Vehicle Burglary - Person(s) unknown broke a window and a door lock in

a car parked in the 6300 block of Via Colinita.

June 7

Carjacking - A male suspect wearing a ski mask demanded that the

occupants exit a car parked in the 3300 block of Paseo del Mar at

gunpoint The suspect was last seen driving the 1993 Jeep eastbound on

Paseo Del Mar.

June 8

Grand Theft, Auto - A 1986 Cadillac was stolen from a parking stall in

the 29600 block of Western Avenue.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
