Weekly Activity Report, May 27 - June 2, 1996

Note: For several weeks crimes in multiple parking

areas seem to be increasing. Last week it was Peacock

Ridge that was hit hard. This week it was La Rotunda

and Ravenspur. Keep a sharp eye on activities in and

around such structures.

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included one residential burglary, one school burglary, four vehicle

burglaries, one felonious assault, one grand theft, auto, one grand

theft, and one petty theft.

May 28

Vehicle Burglary - Person(s) unknown broke a rear window to gain entry

to a car in a parking garage in the 3200 block of La Rotunda Drive.

Nothing was taken in the burglary.

Vehicle Burglary - A golf bag containing a full set of clubs was stolen

by person(s) unknown from a car in a parking garage in the 3200 block

of La Rotunda Drive. There was no sign of forced entry.

School Burglary - A stereo system and VCR were stolen from a classroom

at Silver Spur School by person(s) unknown. Entry was gained by

breaking a large window.

Vehicle Burglary - A garage door opener and emergency road kit were

stolen from a car in a parking garage in the 3200 block of La Rotunda

Drive.

Grand Theft - Person(s) unknown stole stereo equipment from an unlocked

car in a parking structure in the 5600 block of Ravenspur Road.

May 30

Felonious Assault - Two male suspects attempted to steal a dog from the

yard of a residence in the 2300 block of Colt Road. A neighbor

witnessed the attempt and approached the suspects with a baseball bat

with which she was then threatened.

Residential Burglary - Stereo equipment and jewelry were stolen from an

apartment in the 1800 block of Caddington Drive. There was no sign of

forced entry.

Vehicle Burglary - Person(s) unknown broke a window of a car in the

26600 block of Silver Spur Road. A compact disc player was stolen.

May 31

Grand Theft, Auto - A 1994 Ford pickup truck was stolen from a driveway

in the 2100 block of General Street.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Do not hesitate to call the sheriff

when you feel that there is a problem. They appreciate your help.
