Special briefing concerning burglaries in RPV and RHE.
The following is a modified briefing report:
SUBJECT: PENINSULA REGION BURGLARY SERIES
--------------------------------------------------------------
SINCE 09-26-97 THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 14 REPORTED RESIDENTIAL
BURGLARIES IN THE PENINSULA REGION. THE TARGETS HAVE BEEN SINGLE FAMILY
DWELLINGS LOCATED ON DEAD END STREETS OR QUIET STREETS WITH VERY LITTLE
VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. THE TARGET AREAS HAVE BEEN LOCATED WITHIN REPORTING
DISTRICTS 1720, 1721, 1722, 1731, 1732, 1734 AND 1736.
TWO SUSPECT HAVE BEEN SEEN IN AT LEAST THREE BURGLARIES. THEY ARE
DESCRIBED AS AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES. THE FIRST IS FURTHER DESCRIBED AS
BEING 18-20 YRS, 6'1-6'2, 180-190, BALD. THE SECOND WAS 5'8-5'9, 150-160,
WITH AN AFRO HAIR STYLE.
THE SUSPECT VEHICLE WAS DESCRIBED A SMALL IMPORT, POSSIBLY A HONDA ACCORD
FOUR DOOR, BLACK OR DARK BLUE IN COLOR WITH HEAVILY TINTED WINDOWS. THE
CAR ALSO MIGHT HAVE BODY DAMAGE WITH PRIMER MARKS ON THE REAR QUARTER
PANEL, UNKNOWN SIDE.
THE SUSPECTS ARE POSSIBLY GOING DOOR TO DOOR, SOLICITING GARDENING
SERVICE IN ORDER TO SAFELY CASE THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

CRIME SUMMARY
Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes included one armed robbery, two commercial burglaries,
one attempted commercial burglary, four residential
burglaries, one vehicle burglary, one other structure
burglary, one felonious assault, one grand theft, auto, one
grand theft, one petty theft, two acts of arson, and two acts
of vandalism.

October 5
Attempted Commercial Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown
removed ventilation fan blades in an attempt to enter a
business in the 29100 block of Western Avenue.
Commercial Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown removed a
ventilation fan and entered a business in the 29100 block of
Western Avenue. U.S. currency, electronic equipment, and two
cameras were stolen.
Grand Theft (daytime) - A wedding band set was stolen from a
limousine in the hours preceding a wedding in the 6600 block
of Palos Verdes Drive South.
Other Structure Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown
stole golf equipment from an unlocked vehicle in an open
garage of a home in the 5200 block of Sunny Point Place.
October 6
Arson (nighttime) - Person(s) unknown set two cars afire in a
driveway in the 1900 block of Redondela Drive.
Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1986 Chevrolet Suburban was
stolen from the 1800 block of Valleta Drive.
Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown pried a door
of a vehicle in the 2000 block of Avenida Aprenda and stole
two men's wallets.
Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown stole U.S.
coins from a home in the 30700 block of Cartier Drive. Entry
was gained through an open window.
Arson (overnight) - Person(s) unknown set afire a sign on an
outside wall of a school in the 30500 block of Rue De La
Pierre.
October 8
Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke the
glass in a sliding door and ransacked a home in the 5600
block of Seaside Heights Drive. It was unknown at the time
of this report if anything was stolen.
October 9
Commercial Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown climbed
in an unlocked window and damaged the ceiling of a business
in the 28700 block of Ridgebrook Court. Nothing appeared to
have been taken.
Residential Burglary (evening) - Person(s) unknown entered an
unlocked door of an apartment in the 5700 block of Ravenspur
Drive and stole Persian rug.
October 10
Residential Burglary (evening) - Person(s) unknown pried a
screen door and damaged furniture in an apartment in the
32600 block of Nantasket Drive. Nothing appeared to have
been stolen.
Felonious Assault (nighttime) - Numerous male suspects
punched and kicked a male victim outside a party in the 32400
block of Nautilus Drive.
Armed Robbery (nighttime) - Three male suspects punched,
kicked and struck a male victim with a wooden stick in the
4000 block of Palos Verdes Drive South. The victim's keys
and wallet were taken.
