Weekly Activity Report, July 27 - August 2, 1997

 

CRIME SUMMARY

 

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos

Verdes included one armed robbery, two residential

burglaries, two vehicle burglaries, one attempted vehicle

burglary, one other structure burglary, one felonious

assault, one grand theft, auto, one act of arson, and one act

of vandalism.

 

 

ARRESTS

 

Vehicle Laws - 1 Narcotics Laws - 2

 

 

July 27

 

Armed Robbery (daytime) - A male suspect armed with a handgun

forced employees of a business in the 28300 block of Western

Avenue to give him U.S. currency.

 

Grand Theft, Auto (daytime) - A 1986 Toyota Celica was stolen

from Paseo Del Mar and Palos Verdes Drive South.

 

July 28

 

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown stole a

camcorder and U.S. currency from a home in the 28600 block of

Gunter Road. There was no sign of forced entry.

 

July 29

 

Attempted Vehicle Burglary (nighttime) - A male victim yelled

from his window and scared away a male suspect attempting to

open the door of a vehicle in the 29600 block of Enrose

Avenue.

 

Other Structure Burglary - The victim reported that between

July 18 and July 29, 1997, person(s) unknown attempted to

enter her car in an underground parking garage in the 28100

block of Peacock Ridge Drive. The suspect cut the

convertible top and damaged a window.

 

Arson (evening) - Person(s) unknown burned the door of a

booth on the football field at Miraleste Intermediate School.

The suspect(s) stuffed paper under the door and lit a fire.

 

July 30

 

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke the

window of a car in the 3200 block of Paseo Del Mar and stole

a car stereo and a cellular phone.

 

July 31

 

Felonious Assault (daytime) - A male suspect attempted to

cash a forged check at a bank in the 28300 block of Western

Avenue. The suspect entered an awaiting car and the driver

attempted to run over a bank employee that was chasing the

first suspect.

 

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke the

window of a car in a parking lot in the 7000 block of Los

Verdes Drive and stole two golf clubs.

 

August 2

 

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown stole electronic

equipment from a home in the 4000 block of Palos Verdes Drive

South. There was no sign of forced entry.
