Weekly Activity Report, April 6 - April 12, 1997


CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included eight residential burglaries, one vehicle burglary, two grand

thefts, auto, one attempted grand theft, auto, one petty theft, and one

act of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Vehicle Laws - 4

April 6

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown removed a window and

entered a house in the 3300 block of Corinna Drive. U.S. and Canadian

currency were stolen.

April 8

Attempted Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - Person(s) unknown broke a

window and damaged the steering column in an attempt to steal a truck

in the 2000 block of Redondela Drive.

April 10

Residential Burglary (daytime) - A computer system and a telephone were

stolen from a residence in the 2700 block of Vista Mesa Drive by

person(s) unknown. There were no signs of forced entry.

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke a window of a

home on Mustang Road and stole telephones, scuba gear, a VCR, and a

circular saw.

April 11

Residential Burglary (overnight) - Cash, credit cards, and jewelry were

stolen from a residence in the 6800 block of Crest Road. There were no

signs of forced entry.

Residential Burglary - Person(s) unknown entered a house in the 27800

block of Palos Verdes Drive East and stole a stereo. There was no sign

of forced entry.

Residential Burglary - A stereo and U.S. currency were stolen from a

house in the 27800 block of Palos Verdes Drive East by person(s)

unknown. There was no sign of forced entry.

April 12

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown damaged a window

screen to gain entrance to a residence in the 7100 block of Crest Road.

A television set, furniture, and a mirror were stolen.

Residential Burglary - A window screen was torn when person(s) unknown

entered a residence in the 27800 block of Western Avenue. It was

unknown if anything was taken.

Vehicle Burglary - A stereo and clock were stolen from a locked vehicle

parked in a parking garage in the 32700 block of Seagate Drive by

person(s) unknown. Entry was gained by forcing open a rear window.

Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1983 Toyota Camry was stolen from a

driveway in the 28500 block of Quailhill Drive.

April 14

Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1992 BMW 325I was stolen from a

carport in the 6700 block of Los Verdes Drive.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
