Weekly Activity Report, March 30 - April 5, 1997

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included two armed robberies, five vehicle burglaries, one attempted

vehicle burglary, six grand thefts, auto, one petty theft, one theft of

U.S. Mail, and six acts of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Vehicle Laws - 2 Narcotics Laws - 1

March 30

Armed Robbery (nighttime) - Two male suspects, armed with a handgun,

stole a wallet and a briefcase from a male victim as he returned home

in the 28600 block of Mount Shasta Drive.

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - A cellular phone was stolen by person(s)

unknown from a locked vehicle in the 1800 block of Homeworth Avenue.

Entry was gained by smashing a window.

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke a window of a

locked truck in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Crestridge Road and

stole a computer, a briefcase, and a compact disc player.

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - A compact disc player was stolen from a

locked vehicle in the 1800 block Trudie Drive by person(s) unknown.

Entry was gained by breaking a window.

March 31

Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1995 Nissan Pathfinder was stolen

from a driveway in the 26400 block of Grayslake Road.

Grand Theft, Auto (nighttime) - A 1998 Toyota Four Runner was stolen

from a driveway in the 30000 block of Via Rivera.

April 1

Attempted Vehicle Burglary (nighttime) - A car alarm apparently

frightened two male suspects away after they broke a window to gain

entry to a car parked at Byerton Court and Thistlewood Way.

April 2

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - Picture frames were stolen from a locked

vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Hollifield Court

by person(s) unknown.

Grand Theft, Auto (daytime) - Four male suspects stole a Chevrolet

Monte Carlo from an open garage in the 28500 block of Mount Shasta

Drive. The owner of the vehicle heard her car start and saw the

suspects drive away at a high rate of speed.

April 3

Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1995 Toyota Four Runner was stolen

from a driveway in the 3500 block of Heroic Drive.

Grand Theft, Auto (overnight) - A 1989 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from a

driveway in the 29600 block of Enrose Avenue.

Grand Theft , Auto (nighttime) - A 1993 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from

the driveway in the 3800 block of Pirate Drive.

April 4

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - A laptop computer and a briefcase were

stolen from a locked car parked in a driveway on Cayuse Lane by

person(s) unknown. Entry was gained by prying open a window.

Armed Robbery (daytime) - A male suspect stole U.S. currency from a

teller at a bank in the 29000 block of Western Avenue. The suspect

handed the teller an envelope advising that there was a bomb inside.

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
