Weekly Activity Report, February 16 - February 22, 1997

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included four residential burglaries, one school burglary, three

vehicle burglaries, one burglary, other structure, one grand theft,

auto, two grand thefts, four petty thefts, and one act of vandalism.

ARRESTS

Drunk Driving - 1 Vehicle Laws - 2

February 16

Grand Theft, Auto (daytime) - A man and a woman took a motorcycle for a

test drive from the victim's home in the 28600 block of Coveridge Drive

and never returned. A stolen truck was left at the location.

February 17

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown broke a rear window

to enter a residence on Santa Catalina Drive. Nothing appeared to have

been taken.

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Silverware and jewelry were stolen

from a residence in the 27500 block of Hales Corner Road by person(s)

unknown. Entry was gained by prying open a sliding glass door.

Residential Burglary - Camcorders and a camera were stolen from a

residence in the 28300 block of Lomo Drive by person(s) unknown. A

window was broken to gain entry.

February 18

Grand Theft (overnight) - A computer and medical supplies were stolen

from a car in a driveway in the 2900 block of Clevis Road. There were

no signs of forced entry.

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown sliced a canvas top to

gain entry to a vehicle in the 3200 block of La Rotonda Drive. A

compact disc player was stolen.

February 19

Residential Burglary (daytime) - A golf bag and clubs were stolen from

a garage in the 27000 block of Freeport Road by person(s) unknown.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Other Structure Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown entered a

garage in the 2300 block of Colt Road and stole a briefcase containing

a ring, currency, and eyeglasses. There was no sign of forced entry.

February 20

School Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown gained entry to a class

room at a school in the 28800 block of Western Avenue by damaging a

screen and prying open a window. Computers, a VCR, and a television

were stolen.

February 21

Vehicle Burglary - A car in a subterranean garage in the 32600 block of

Sea Gate Drive was burglarized by person(s) unknown. A cellular phone,

CB radio, U.S. currency were stolen. There was no sign of forced

entry.

Grand Theft (nighttime) - A toolbox was stolen from the bed of a truck

parked in a subterranean garage in the 28100 block of Peacock Ridge

Road.

February 22

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown stole numerous items

from a car parked in the 6700 block of Los Verdes Drive. There were no

signs of forced entry.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
