Weekly Activity Report, January 12 - January 18, 1997

CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

included two commercial burglaries, one residential burglary, one

attempted residential burglary, two vehicle burglaries, one other

structure burglary, two grand thefts, auto, two grand thefts, three

petty thefts and one act of vandalism.

January 12

Other Structure Burglary - A male victim reported that two bikes were

stolen from a parking structure in the 3200 block of La Rotunda Drive.

The bikes had been secured with a lock which had been cut.

January 13

Vehicle Burglary (daytime) - U.S. currency and credit cards were stolen

from a car parked in the 5600 block of Crestridge Road by person(s)

unknown. A window was broken to gain entry.

January 14

Commercial Burglary (nighttime) - Unknown suspect(s) entered a

classroom of a school in the 28800 block of Western Avenue by prying

open a door. Computer equipment was stolen.

January 15

Grand Theft, Auto (nighttime) - A 1988 Toyota was stolen from the

street in the 27500 block of Hales Corner.

January 16

Grand Theft (overnight) - An aluminum car wheel and lug nuts were

stolen from a car parked in an underground garage in the 3200 block of

La Rotunda Drive.

Grand Theft, Auto (nighttime) - A 1989 Nissan was stolen from a

driveway in the 27800 block of Palos Verdes Drive East.

Attempted Residential Burglary (daytime) - A male victim saw a van

parked in his driveway on Oceanaire Drive, with two male suspects

inside. The victim entered his house, saw another suspect in the back

yard, and called police.

Grand Theft - An emblem was stolen from a car parked in the street in

the 1800 block of Avenida Estudiante. Damage was also done to the hood

and antenna.

January 17

Commercial Burglary (nighttime) - A computer, a monitor, and a printer

were stolen from a school in the 28800 block of Western Avenue which

had been burglarized several days earlier. Entry was gained through a

window.

Residential Burglary - Golf equipment was stolen from a garage in the

28100 block of Golden Meadows Drive by person (s) unknown. The victim

later recognized her clubs and bag in a sporting goods store.

January 18

Vehicle Burglary (nighttime) - Person (s) unknown smashed the window of

a car parked on the street in the 3500 block of Starline Drive.

Nothing was stolen.

Mail theft continues to be a problem. Be cautious when placing

mail at the curb and promptly remove mail from mailboxes.

Keep a watchful eye for strangers in the neighborhood and call

the sheriff's office upon suspicion. Know your Neighborhood
