CRIME SUMMARY

Crimes reported this past week in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes included

four residential

burglaries, one school burglary, one vehicle burglary, three grand thefts

auto, two attempted

grand thefts auto, three grand thefts, and four acts of vandalism.

August 16

Vehicle Burglary (overnight) - Person(s) unknown stole a cellular phone from

a locked truck in

the 27000 block of Diamond Head Lane. There was no sign of forced entry.

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown stole a television from a

home in the 26400

block of Ashfork Place. Entry was made through an unlocked rear door.

August 17

Grand Theft - Person(s) unknown stole numerous sprinkler heads from the

median in the 5300

block of Montemalaga Drive.

School Burglary (weekend) - Person(s) unknown broke a window and ransacked

an office and

numerous cabinets at a school in the 28000 block of Montereina Drive.

August 18

Grand Theft - The victim reported that between August 6th and August 8th,

person(s) unknown

stole clothing and snow ski equipment from a van in the 6500 block of Via

Baron.

Attempted Grand Theft Auto (evening) - Person(s) unknown smashed a window

and stole a

men's wallet from a van in the 5900 block of Palos Verdes Drive South. The

steering column

was also damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

August 19

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown climbed in an open window

of a home in

the 26300 block of Silver Spur Road and stole a safe containing U.S. coins.

Grand Theft (nighttime) - A male suspect stole a cellular phone and

accessories from a motel

room in the 29600 block of Western Avenue.

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown removed a screen and

climbed in an

unlocked window of a home in the 30700 block of Casalina Drive and ransacked

numerous

rooms. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

August 20

Residential Burglary (daytime) - Person(s) unknown removed a screen, pried a

window open and

ransacked numerous rooms of a home in the 30400 block of Via Rivera. A

camera was stolen.

Grand Theft Auto (nighttime) - A male suspect, known by the victim, stole a

1988 Mazda 323

from a parking lot in the 6600 block of Palos Verdes Drive South. The

suspect was arrested a

short time later in Redondo Beach.

Grand Theft Auto (daytime) - A 1983 Oldsmobile station wagon was stolen from

a driveway in

the 1900 block of Avenida Feliciano.

Grand Theft Auto (nighttime) - A 1990 motorcycle was stolen from a parking

lot in the 6600

block of Palos Verdes Drive South.

Attempted Grand Theft Auto (overnight) - Person(s) unknown damaged the

steering column of a

van in a parking lot in the 27500 block of Western Avenue in an attempt to

steal the vehicle.
