Aliso Niguel beach is one of the best surf fishing sites in the los angeles/ orange county areas. however, i have experienced high winds in aliso niguel about 80% of the time i have been there. other than the tangled fishing lines, a lot of bass and a few sharks can be caught here. I have also caught a few rock fish.

although surf fishing is preferred in the early morning hours, i sometimes enjoy fishing in the late afternoon here.

since high winds constantly occur here, make sure to use bait that is not soft so the bait will not fly off the hook when you cast. i prefer sand crab, but always use live mackerel when going after sharks.

based on my experience, i like to catch sharks ( thresher and bay) bass, perch, and rock fish here. At san onofre, which is another surf fishing site, i go after sharks (especially leopard), rays, perch, and opal eye.
