Board Meeting 1-9-98

Meeting called to order by Ted Vegvari; seconded by Debbie Lang.

Irving Zalma mentioned growing interest among
various merchants about the organiation, suggested development of a brochure
or handout to give to interested merchants.

Amendment re: Jeff, elected to Board, needs to
be notified

Ted - re: Cousins purchase of PV Mall, met w/
Joe ? California Cucina re: vacating easement of Deep Valley Drive, opinion
of how to proceed, discussion of ideas/opinions. Bruno sat in on traffic
meeting, discussion of Ron Florence, merchants, Brick Wall merchants all
oppose closure of Deep Valley Drive. Discussion of traffic flow, Crossfield
vs. Deep valley. Should AWMA Board present a consensus opinion of situation
to general members? Discussion ensued:

1st idea: "RHE AWMA would like to
process and forward opinions of The Shops issue to City, we are in existence
and will help in this matter."

If city is willing to mail out to business list,
we will reenter mail list into database, Ted willing to draft & mail
out letter. Bruce willing to assist in this task. Ted suggests a 3-fold
paper w/ stamp. Bruce suggests a letter on RHE AWMA letterhead w/ city
stamp.

2nd idead: "We realize that this is
going to impact you tremendously. In the event that the City of RHE approves
the purchase and sale of ____ please send your recommendations on how to
make this work." Discussion of whether letter should go out before or after
city makes decision. Ted & Lynette suggest letter should go out before
City’s Decision.

3rd idea: Marsha moves to prepare
letter going to merchants introducing our organization and what our function
is, that we are here to help them, if they have comments we will be happy
to compile and add theirs to a compilation and present it to the city.
Lynette seconds. Ted suggests Lynette call Michelle Swanson at RHE City
Hall.
Membership Application Form:
Marsha will create an application form. Use
RHE City address. State what we do, what we are here for. Name, Address,
City State Zip, Tel, Fax Email. Business name. (on application section
for payment check only made payable RHE AWMA) "membership fees cover cost
of mailings" in small print
Create check box on application to specify
receive mailings via email or fax.
PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY, comments/suggestions
box, tell us about your self/ business,
"gee, I’d like to get involved box."
Discussion of agenda for general meeting on
January 14, 1998 at PV Library. Confirmation made w/ PV Library of upcoming
dates. Brett Plumley has reserved February 11th, Ted will contact
Brett.

Introduce RHE AWMA organization, who we are,
solicit comments

Mall Discussion (do we want to address this issue)
we don’t have all the facts re: The Shops

Present list of committees, solicit involvement.

Debbie suggests workshops for merchants.

Introduce people in the audience if less than
50 attend.
Discussion ensued as to whether we should
have a membership fee
(RHE City is not supporting us)
Very low one time fee, subject to change,
six months.
Ted : Projection of costs $350/mailing x four
(one per quarter). Cost projection $1500/year minimum.
Ted suggests those who contributed $100+ get
a one year membership.
Conclusion: $60/six months, $100.00/year.
Bruno moves initial fees, Debbie seconds.
DBA as RHE AWMA Bruce will handle DBA, has
officers, use city’s address, address subject to change. County fee will
be covered by RHE AWMA.
*Note: Debbie Lang needs reimbursement
of 600 copies.
