Homes in Rolling Hills Estates are serviced twice each week.  Should one of the above holidays fall on your collection day, BFI will not collect your material.  The second collection day will remain the same and BFI will provide all services (trash, yard waste and recycling) and collect the extra material on that day.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas trees will be recycled if they are left beside the yard waste containers.  Trees must be free of ornaments, flocking, and attached stands.  All trees must be cut into sections five feet or less to fit into the trucks. If there are any exceptions to this policy, the tree will be disposed with the trash.

BFI provides a bi-annual free collection of bulky items on specified days. Collection is a specified day in April and October.  For the dates this year please call 1-888-PICK-BFI.

Bulky items collected include: furniture, appliances, hot water heaters, toys, lawn equipment, boxed miscellaneous, etc. Material such as construction debris, hazardous waste (paint cans, pesticides, pool supplies) are not accepted.

On the specified day, bulky items must be placed on the curb or the edge of the street to be collected.
 

BFI provides a paid bulky item collection service for all other days other than the free collection days.  Customers can call 1-888-PICK-BFI to schedule service:
 

• The cost is $45 for the first item and $20 per items thereafter
• Collection can be on either of the two regular collection days
• Customers must call 24 hours in advance to schedule the service
• Items to be collected must be placed at the curb or off the street
