Welcome: Message from Head of School
Please call about our next OPEN HOUSE or schedule a private tour.
RHP is a strong educational community of fewer than three hundred people. Our school size is ideal, being large enough to offer a range of academic courses, arts, and athletics, and one of the country's premier outdoor education programs, yet small enough that every student is known very well. We enroll not just students at RHP; we enroll families. And in joining the RHP family, you will find other adults and young people sharing common visions and values. Together we develop an environment in which students are challenged by demanding academic courses and supported within a close-knit community. As our mission indicates, instilling strong moral values is one of our primary goals here at RHP. Our low student/teacher ratio of less than 10/1 allows close contact between adult and students, so that we can address individual needs and maximize the potential of each young person. And community service is encouraged, not because it "looks good on the transcript," but because working individually and collectively to help others around us is an important part of developing strong character. Educators and parents hold a dual responsibility to seek the best match between students and school, which is why we encourage you to look very carefully at what we value and celebrate at RHP. We welcome your questions and look forward to meeting you on campus. Peter McCormack, Head of School Peter McCormack was educated in England, earning his Bachelor's Degree in physics from York University, his teaching certification from Exeter University, and his Master's degree from Oxford University. He taught in public and private schools in London, New York, Paris, and Boston, before being appointed Head of School at RHP in 1993. |
