TechTime

AAUW/PVP presents TechTime, a science club for Junior Girl Scouts, to a local Girl Scout Council. The club meets one evening per month, January through May, at a local elementary school. At a TechTime meeting, an accomplished woman engineer or scientist presents a hands-on program to the enthusiastic Scouts.

Based upon a model from the Los Altos-Mountain View Branch, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Branch launched this science club for 4th and 5th graders at Mira Catalina Elementary School as a test site during Winter 1997. Presenters as well as students were so delighted with TechTime that the branch continued and expanded the club in 1998, alternating between the two Scout councils for following years until 2001, when the branch started offering TechTime to the two councils every year.
