The University of Tulsa won the 2002 Regional Challenge with a superb three day score of 870. The Golden Hurricanes finished a whooping 23 shots in front of second place Texas who shot 893. Oklahoma State finished 3rd at 900. Tulsa had the best score the first and second days of the tournament and only Michigan State outshot them on the 3rd day.
Individually Lorena Ochoa was spectacular, with a tournament record winning score of seven under, 206. Christi Cano of Oklahoma State and Angela Jerman of Georgia tied for second at 212. To put this in perspective, 212 was the previous tournament record.
